How to Signal Interest in Working for a Company on LinkedIn

For professionals exploring a future move, LinkedIn offers a discreet way to indicate interest in working for a particular organisation without applying for a specific role.

The I’m interested feature can be useful when you are keeping an eye on an organisation, considering a sector change or open to hearing about suitable opportunities as they arise.

It is not available on every Company Page, but where it appears, it gives you a simple way to make your profile more visible to that organisation’s hiring team.

Where to find the feature

Look for the I’m interested button on a company’s LinkedIn Page. It may appear in the:

• About tab

• Life tab

• About the company section of a job listing

You can use it even when the organisation does not currently have an advertised role that suits you.

What happens when you signal interest

When you select I’m interested, recruiters at that organisation may be able to find your profile when they search for candidates who have expressed interest in working there.

Your interest is private. It is not shared with your connections, shown in the LinkedIn feed or visible to recruiters at other organisations.

The company’s hiring team may share your profile internally as part of their recruitment process, but the signal remains limited to that organisation.

Use it with intention

LinkedIn allows you to express interest in up to 50 companies. That does not mean you need to use all 50.

Choose organisations where there is a genuine connection to your experience, interests, values or future direction. Consider:

• organisations in sectors you know well

• employers whose work or purpose interests you

• companies where your experience may be useful in future

• organisations you would be open to speaking with, even if there is no current vacancy

This feature works best as part of a broader career approach. Keep your LinkedIn profile current, make sure it reflects the work you want to be known for and continue building relationships across your professional network.

Stay informed without overcommitting

After you signal interest, LinkedIn may send a weekly digest with relevant jobs and company updates, provided your in-app Page notifications are turned on.

Your expression of interest remains visible to recruiters for up to 12 months, unless you remove it earlier. You can also withdraw your interest at any time.

A quiet way to stay open to opportunity

For senior professionals, career changers and people who are not ready to make a public job-search announcement, this can be a useful option.

It does not replace networking, a strong profile or a thoughtful application when the right role appears. But it can help make your interest clearer to organisations you would genuinely like to hear from.
