LinkedIn Rituals That Help Busy Leaders

by Client Stories, LinkedIn for Leaders

LinkedIn has become a busy marketplace of content hacks, algorithm promises and AI shortcuts. Every scroll brings a new trick for “going viral” or “optimising engagement.” But most executives I work with aren’t trying to be influencers. They simply want to stay visible, stay connected, and stay human in a professional landscape that often feels crowded and fast.

This case study is for the leaders who like the idea of LinkedIn – but aren’t sure what to do when they land there. It explores the quiet power of networking rituals and how to build your own, so LinkedIn becomes less of a chore and more of a small, steady practice that supports your professional goals.

The Executive Who Built a Simple Ritual

I once worked with a client who described himself as “LinkedIn-ambivalent but willing to learn.” He liked the platform in theory, but avoided it because he never knew what to do once he was there. During our session we sketched a simple daily ritual  – nothing fancy, nothing loud, nothing performative. He saved it to his phone. Two weeks later he told me the shift was remarkable. Not because he was posting more. But because he was present when he was on the platform. Focused. Intentional. Efficient.

His words:
“It feels like I’ve finally stopped wandering.”

Here is the ritual he built:

Daily LinkedIn Ritual (5–10 minutes)

• Review and respond to notifications.
• Like or comment on one or two updates that genuinely interest you.
• Review connection requests.
• Send a brief thank-you message to new connections and – if appropriate – ask how you can help.

Weekly Ritual

• Share one article only if it’s genuinely worth sharing.
• If he speaks at an event, he posts a simple photo mentioning the host and organisation.

That was it. No daily posting. No elaborate strategy. And yet his visibility, conversations and professional momentum increased.

Why Rituals Help Build Your LinkedIn Presence

A ritual is not a hustle. It’s a gentle structure that helps you turn up without having to think too hard about it. When your rituals are clear, you spend less time on LinkedIn – and strangely, you get more from it.

This works because decision fatigue is real. When you already spend your days navigating complex issues, the last thing you need is to open LinkedIn and wonder, Now what?

One client of mine – an executive with demanding work and life commitments – refers to her weekly habit as the Fast Fifteen. She blocks fifteen minutes in her calendar each week with only three actions to complete. This weekly ritual keeps her visible with her professional community.

I prefer the idea of the Thoughtful Fifteen, and I walk my clients through what this can look like in my LinkedIn Mentoring sessions.

Explore Your Own LinkedIn Rituals

Before you build a ritual, you need clarity. Who are you hoping to be in conversation with? What kinds of opportunities should find you? What themes reflect your leadership and your organisation’s strengths? Once you answer those honestly, your entire LinkedIn experience sharpens.

Then choose a realistic rhythm and set three simple actions you can stick to. Small, repeatable steps create far more momentum than big, irregular bursts.

LinkedIn becomes easier to manage when you follow a consistent routine that supports your goals. As part of LinkedIn Mentoring, we help you define that routine so you can stay focused, confident, and intentional.
