Building a Clearer LinkedIn Strategy for a Founder-Led Business

by Client Stories, LinkedIn for Leaders, LinkedIn for Organisations

This case study explores how Think Bespoke helped a founder-led events and audience engagement business create a more intentional LinkedIn presence, with clearer positioning, stronger content direction and a better connection between visibility and enquiry generation.

Client: Founder-led events and audience engagement business, Australia

The business already had strong foundations. The founder was well regarded, active in the industry and visible on LinkedIn. He had a growing body of content, a clear depth of experience and support from a team member helping manage activity behind the scenes.

What was missing was not effort. It was a clearer structure around how LinkedIn could support the business.

The team wanted to make it easier for prospective clients, event organisers, executive assistants and collaborators to understand what the founder did, how the business helped and why the work mattered. They also wanted a more sustainable approach to content, visibility and follow-up that could support commercial conversations over time.

The Starting Point

The founder’s LinkedIn profile already carried strong credibility. It included videos, articles, reflections and visible examples of industry involvement. However, the profile was trying to communicate several adjacent offers and brand messages at once.

The issue was not a lack of substance. It was a lack of clarity.

A prospective client arriving at the profile for the first time needed to work too hard to understand the relationship between the founder’s personal brand, the main business, the website and a related brand. The headline, About section and Featured section carried too much explanation, creating friction rather than helping visitors quickly understand the value on offer.

The business had also built up a considerable body of content. There were ideas, stories, articles and examples of work already available. But without a clear framework for how the content should be grouped, repurposed or connected to commercial priorities, the activity felt busy rather than strategic.

As the conversation unfolded, the founder and team recognised that LinkedIn needed to become more than an ongoing stream of updates. It needed to support a clearer professional presence, stronger client understanding and a more deliberate path from visibility to enquiry.

How Think Bespoke Helped

Think Bespoke approached the work as a strategic review and practical reset.

The first focus was positioning. The founder’s profile needed to speak more clearly to the people most likely to influence or make buying decisions. This included executive assistants, event organisers, producers, senior leaders and other stakeholders involved in planning business events and audience experiences.

Rather than allowing the profile to read as a broad list of capabilities, the recommendation was to simplify the commercial story and use clearer buyer language. The aim was to help visitors understand not only what the founder did, but how he helped organisations create stronger events, better audience connection and more meaningful experiences.

The next focus was profile structure.

The headline, About section, Services section, Featured section and supporting profile features were reviewed through the lens of clarity, credibility and conversion. Some areas were carrying too much weight, while others were under-used.

The Featured section, in particular, presented an opportunity to bring forward stronger proof. This included selecting more purposeful videos, articles, case examples and calls to action that would help a prospective client understand the founder’s experience without needing to search for it.

The third focus was content strategy.

Instead of continuing to publish broadly and reactively, Think Bespoke recommended a clearer set of themes connected to the business’s real expertise. These included what makes business events work, how strong audience connection is created, the role of presenters, the quieter preparation behind successful events and the practical intelligence that clients may not see.

The purpose was not to reduce the richness of the founder’s work. It was to organise it in a way that would make the content more useful, more recognisable and more commercially relevant over time.

The session also extended beyond content creation.

Newsletter strategy, profile views, subscriber growth, connection habits, follow-up activity and LinkedIn analytics were brought into the conversation. The goal was to create a clearer path from visibility to trust, and from trust to more relevant enquiries.

What Changed

The first shift was clarity.

The team left with a stronger understanding of where the founder’s profile was trying to do too much, what was causing friction for prospective clients and how the business could explain its offer more simply.

The second shift was structure.

What had previously felt active but somewhat improvised began to take the shape of a more deliberate system. This included clearer positioning, stronger use of LinkedIn profile real estate, more defined content themes, a possible newsletter pathway and a practical plan for the next stage of work.

The third shift was commercial focus.

The team began to see LinkedIn less as a channel that needed constant content and more as a strategic platform that could support credibility, trust and business development. Existing content could be reused more thoughtfully, and new activity could be tied more closely to the people and conversations that mattered to the business.

What This Business Learned

This case study reflects a challenge many founder-led businesses face.

The founder may already have credibility, experience and strong ideas. The proof may already exist. But when the story is crowded or the structure around it is unclear, prospective clients can be left trying to join the dots for themselves.

For this business, the shift was not about becoming louder or creating more content. It was about making the existing value easier to understand.

Clearer positioning, a more intentional profile, stronger content themes and more thoughtful follow-up created a better foundation for visibility and enquiry generation.

Over time, LinkedIn can become less of a patchwork of posts and more of a steady, credible presence that helps the right people understand who you are, what you bring and why they may want to start a conversation.
