LinkedIn Retires the Connected App
LinkedIn has confirmed via an email to users of the Connected App and in their Help Centre update that the Connected App will no longer be supported.
In an email sent on 22nd January (Australian Eastern Standard time) LinkedIn advised users:
In July 2014 we launched the LinkedIn Connected app to give you a better way to keep in touch with your professional network. Since then we’ve gained tremendous insight from your feedback and have integrated the functionality of Connected into our main LinkedIn app to provide our members with a more streamlined experience.
So, we’ll be retiring the LinkedIn Connected app on March 21, 2016. You’ll find all of your network updates – like the job changes and birthdays of people in your network – already available on the “My Network” tab of the main LinkedIn app.
If you synced your calendar in Connected to get prompts about people you’re meeting with, you’ll need to re-sync it in the main LinkedIn app. To do this, click the icon in the upper right of the “My Network” tab.
LinkedIn appears to be streamlining its Apps with this move and believes that the recent changes to the new LinkedIn App make it even easier to keep up with your connections.
In the LinkedIn Help Centre update LinkedIn states
We believe that every professional should be able to keep up with their connections in a fast, easy, and smart way, so we’ve built Connected’s functionality into our new LinkedIn app. Because the Connected app experience is now available in our main LinkedIn app, we will be shutting down the Connected app on March 21, 2016.
You can continue building and developing your networks within the LinkedIn app, plus enjoy many more frequently requested features.
